Introduction to the Major of Computer Science and Technology

College of Information Science and Technology was founded in 2000 on the basis of formerly Zhejiang Electronics School. In 1997, the specialty of computer science and technology began to enroll students; in 2003, it was upgraded to an undergraduate major; in 2009, after setting the precise goal of cultivating software service outsourcing talents, it was established as a provincial key construction major; in 2013, after determining the goal of cultivating BPO+ITO versatile talents based on the needs of industry development and major building reform, it was rated as a provincial emerging characteristic major; in 2019, it was rated as a provincial characteristic major since the major cultivation program was reformed with the development trend of big data; in the same year, it was rated as a provincial first-class major construction site as the reform of major building deepened, and the goal of cultivating versatile talents of information system development, operation and maintenance serving the smart healthcare industry was set; in 2022, it was rated as a national first-class major building site for the undergraduate program. The teaching achievements of this major have won the first prize and the second prize of the Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.

There are 41 teachers in this major, including 7 professors, 16 associate professors, 9 with doctoral degrees, and more than 90% have engineering experience. In addition to teaching teams such as "Programming" and "Computer Organization and Network", more than 20 industry and enterprise experts have been hired as part-time lecturers. The major enrolls about 120 students each year, and currently has 566 students.

The teaching and research platforms supporting this major include: Zhejiang Provincial Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center for Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang Modern Industry Institute of Smart Healthcare, Dongzhong National Off-campus Practice Education Base for College Students, and Zhejiang Provincial First-class Discipline of Computer Science and Technology.
